Welcome to my blog..."Find A Moment's Peace"
"If I could only find a moment's peace!" How many times have we said that. Many times we feel like we just want to "get away from it all". The fact is that peace is not in some location far away and finding it is pretty much free. It only takes a moment to find a moments peace. I have discovered that first hand.
I'm a very real and imperfect person who has been through some very difficult, hard to handle, real life situations but through a very strong faith in a loving and very present God, and the support of my incredible family and friends, I not only have found a moment's peace, but live a life pretty abundant in peace for which I am thankful every day.
I rejoice in the smallest things like finding $20.00 in an old purse (to use for a couple of trips to Starbucks). I enjoy jumping in puddles with my rain boots on, playing with kids, teaching, I love to cook and clean play with my "puppyhead" 2 year old Labradoodle- D.O.G. (that's really his name) and love the change of seasons here in New York.
I love my family. I have a very understanding, intelligent and talented husband who is an avionics tech (repairs electronics for airplanes and gifted sax player..talk about diversity!), 2 very creative and loving sons and three "stepchildren" who I don't consider "steps" at all they are the best kids anyone could ever be blessed to have in in their lives....I truly have the most wonderful family anyone could ever ask for.
I'm the Executive Director of Helping Hand Rescue Mission which my parents founded in 1965. You can read more about that at www.hhrm.org. I love to write music, sing and play the piano. I hadn't written for several years, but have composed several songs in the past 3 years and look forward to writing more in the future. I missed writing and welcome it back into my life. It's like the welcome presence of an old friend.
I teach piano and voice and love to do SCMEA (Suffolk County Music Educators Association) & NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) prep for both.
